According to a report released recently, the number of retirement villages NSW would fail to meet future demand. The state and local government would need to prevent future shortfall by ensuring more number of retirement villages NSW and at a faster rate.
The demand for retirement villages NSW is forecasted to double in the next 10 years, however the present rates of development of retirement villages will not be able to keep up and potentially lead to a shortage of housing units which are built specifically to meet the requirements for senior living.
The Government needs to alter land use policies and support the development of retirement villages NSW in a wider range of areas. Also, there needs to be targets for the number of retirement villages NSW and approvals should be fast tracked. There should be rate rebates and incentives for the integration of retirement villages NSW with the local community for better senior living facilities.
